Al Pontius is a senior vice president and managing director at Marcus & Millichap Real Estate Investment Services, based in the San Francisco office. In this role, Mr. Pontius is responsible for all of the leased investment divisions within the company.  This includes oversight of the firm’s National Retail Group (NRG), National Office and Industrial Properties Group (NOIPG), Net Leased Properties Group (NLPG) and its Healthcare Real Estate Group (HREG).  In addition, he is the national director of the Special Assets Services (SAS) division.

Mr. Pontius began his career with Marcus & Millichap as a sales associate in 1985, and in this capacity he consistently ranked among the firm’s Top 25 associates. In 1993, he was appointed regional manager of the Palo Alto office. In that role, he led that office to consistently rank among the top offices companywide.  Mr. Pontius was promoted to first vice president in 2000 and to senior vice president in 2002. Also in 2002, he was promoted to national director of the NOIPG and co-national director of the NLPG.  He was elected a managing director in 2007, and assumed responsibility for the NRG in 2010.  Mr. Pontius’ industry trade affiliations include ICSC, NAIOP and ULI, where he is regularly called upon to present on U.S. real estate investment trends.
